Documents / Viewing Documents
Your browser is capable of displaying the contents of certain types of documents inside your browser. This is called "In Place Activation". Depending on your browser configuration and your operating system, you may be able to control this default behavior. Typically Microsoft Internet Explorer will attempt to open Microsoft Word or Excel files inside of the browser. It may even allow you to edit the contents of the document from inside the browser.
Remember, however, that you will not be able to save those changes into MAGIQ Documents (refer to Editing Documents). If you would like to change this behavior so that Microsoft Office files will open in their native applications (i.e. Word docs open in Word, not in IE), follow these steps:
- Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Explore".
- From the "View" Menu, select "Folder Options".
- A window with 3 tabs will appear. Select the tab named "File Types".
- From the "File Types" list, select the type of file.
- Click on the "Edit" button. This will bring up a new window titled "Edit File Type".
- At this window, look for a check box labeled "Browse in Same Window".
- Make sure that this check box is NOT checked.
